Job title: Maintenance Assistant – Pushback Operator


Job Purpose:
The Maintenance Assistant – Pushback Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient pushback and towing of aircraft at DWC, while providing logistics and equipment support to maintenance teams. The role operates in an airside environment in strict compliance with safety regulations, airport authority requirements, and departmental standard operating procedures.


Key Responsibilities:
• Operate a variety of pushback tractors (including TPX-200MT and towbar-less variants) to perform gate, Hangar and remote stand pushback and towing activities.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections of all assigned PBTs, TBLs, and aircraft nose wheel/towbar connections to confirm serviceability prior to each operation.
• Execute all pushback and towing activities in strict compliance with safety rules, airport regulations, and departmental SOPs and work instructions.
• Coordinate with flight deck crew, ramp supervisors, and ATC during all aircraft movement operations to ensure safe and timely execution.
• Provide logistics support to maintenance teams including transport of tools, equipment, and components across the airfield as directed.
• Assist with the positioning and retrieval of ground support equipment (GSE) in support of maintenance activities.
• Identify, report, and escalate safety concerns, near misses, incidents, or equipment discrepancies to the relevant supervisor without delay.
• Comply with all safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, defects, and serviceability status as required.
• Participate in mandatory safety briefings, toolbox talks, and regulatory training programmes.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and FOD-free work environment at all times.
• Perform other duties assigned by direct manager.


Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
• Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in ground handling operations or a related airfield environment.
• Experience within an aviation MRO or aviation ground handling organisation.
• Valid UAE Driving License.
• Valid equipment operating license(s) for: Aircraft Pushback Tractor (incl. TPX-200MT), Towbar-Less Tractors (TBL), Aircraft Towing and Taxiing, ADP Level 3/4 and TTR equipment, and Passenger Steps.
• Completion of all mandatory and regulatory training courses applicable to the role.
• Strong understanding of airside safety regulations and airport authority requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts.
• Capacity to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, and on the apron at different times of day and night.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work in an outdoor airside environment for extended periods.
